Jacob's baptism

Rob and I were honored to asked to be one set of Jacob's god parents. The other god parents are Steve and Laura, Natalie's friends from Waseca. Jake got baptized at the age of two. It was the first baptism that I can remember going to that the child was talking, and boy did he talk! It was the cutest thing ever! At one point when the pastor was talking Jake said "I am here to get baptized!" and then played with the water. He as super good when the pastor put water on his head three times. James and Natalie have an audio tape of the baptism, I hope to listen to it one day.

Updated Belly Shot

Before the shower I had Rob take another belly shot picture since I realized I hadn't taken one in 5 weeks. A lot has changed in 5 weeks! :)

Friends Shower

Janet and Angie threw me a friends shower and it was incredible! Here is a picture of the three of us.

Instead of playing games everyone decorated a onesie for the baby and I got to choose the winner. It was so much fun to look and see how creative everyone was. Here are some pictures:

I would have liked to put pictures of all the adorable onesies but there just isn't room. I think I came home with over 16 decorated onesies. They also did a trivia contest which was interesting. When I opened gifts, once again I was amazed at how generous everyone was. I am truly lucky to have such great friends!

Just not the same

For the first time in 6 years I missed the yearly Peterson family vacation at Becker's Resort on Lake Winnibigoshish. I need to save as much of my vacation time as possible for after the baby comes and I had a feeling I wouldn't be to comfortable up there in the heat, my bad back and the bugs. Rob did go from Saturday to Wednesday and had a great time. Ron, Roger and Rob still participated in the annual Rock Bass Tournament with Rob being the winner*. Win or lose one of my favorite parts is seeing the sunsets on the Mississippi river. Since I was pretty sure Rob wouldn't use our camera if I sent it with him, Rob's uncle Roger was nice enough to send me the below pictures.

(*This was verified by Roger)
The same weekend Rob went to Becker's I brought Aries and Akayia up to my parents cabin for Aries' annual trip. He decided that he wanted Akayia to come up this year and it was a big year for him. Last year he had tried to learn how to ski but didn't make it up. Saturday before Rob left for Becker's he helped Aries try and ski. This year Aries got up on the first time! Rob was such a good sport and ended up having to swim halfway across the lake in the nasty weeds once Aries got up but according to him it was worth it. Mom, Dad and I were in the boat and of course Mom and I started crying. :) He made it almost around the whole lake before he fell down. The best part is he wanted to get right back up. I asked if he wanted to go back to shore to have Rob help him and he wanted to do it by himself. He had a little trouble getting the skis back on but he got right up again! Surprisingly he wasn't to sore on Saturday after, or so he told me. Though on Sunday I asked him if he wanted to try skiing again and said no he didn't want his back to hurt again. Here are some pictures of Aries first time on water skis and Rob helping.

Akayia handled all the new things like a champ! I couldn't believe how brave she was! She got over her fear of dogs (which is good since there was 4 up there), loved going fast on the 4 wheeler, and even went swimming in the middle of the lake! Pretty amazing for a 5 year old who has never been up north before. She also loved to go fishing and was super good in the boat. I wouldn't let her cast the kids rod with the real hook very often because we had 5 people and 4 dogs in the boat. Most of the time she was ok with casting the other kids rod with the fake fish on it, I did let her cast out the real hook a couple of times and she did good, I think I was more nervous than she was. I used the kids rod with the real hook and when ever I caught a fish I let her reel it in. She "helped" me take off almost all the fish that we caught and even liked playing with the worms. I think she touched every sunfish I caught.

Work in progress

Last night Rob and I put together the last piece of furniture for the nursery - the dresser. As you can see we haven't been able to put anything away yet. Lena had fun hiding behind the gifts from the Boie shower. Hopefully we will be able to start getting things put away early next week. We still have to put up the border but here are some pictures.

Hodag Country

On Friday the 6th of July Rob and I headed to Rhinelander Wisconsin - Land of the Hodags for Matt (Tag) & Sarah Osterman's wedding. We arrived early on Friday night and did some sight seeing, one of the first things we saw was a giant Hodag! What is a Hodag you ask? The best way to find out is to go to this website. http://www.rhinelanderchamber.com/history2.htm. Here are some pictures of Rob and I with the Hodag.

After hanging out with the Hodag we saw what had to be the tackiest house we have ever seen! Both of us couldn't believe someone would actually do this to their house.

After dinner we walked around town a little bit and Rob found his second home. Check this out!

The wedding was beautiful and the reception was held at this incredibly beautiful place ironically called Tazmania. It was surrounded by a pine forest on a private lake where pontoon rides around the lake were offered. Rob and I did take a pontoon ride right as the sun was going down.

It was another great weekend away.

Fourth of July long weekend

Rob and I spent the weekend before the 4th at the lake with mom, dad, Janet, Denny, Anne, Nic, Gena, Peggy, Jerry, Steve Hayes, Zac and Olivia. Saturday we had a pot luck where dad and mom deep fried TWO turkeys! It was such a treat to have that again and as usual there was so much food. Dad went to Missouri again this year to get the fireworks with my Uncle Denny. Zac helped dad light off the fireworks this year and he loved it!! He is already excited for next year when he will be able to help out again. The fireworks this year were so incredible! About 30 people came to watch and everyone keep saying that it was the best display so far.
James and Natalie stopped by on Sunday and were able to stay until Monday. We had fun playing cards and just hanging out with them. Rob and I were lucky enough to be able to stay until Tuesday. The weather didn't cooperate as much as we would have liked to for Monday and Tuesday but at least we had great weather for Friday and Saturday.

Here is a picture of a family of loons we came across while taking Zac and Olivia for a boat ride.
